1 The Influence of psychological factors on spoken English
Every learner was influenced by the psychological factors more or less when they spoke English, and these psychological factors he two categories: First, Psychology resulting from linguistic; Second, character deficiency.
  1.1 Linguistic Psychology
The first linguistic psychology affecting the improvement of spoken English is all vocabulary for the learners. Because of the lacks of adequate vocabulary, the learners don’t know how to express their ideas. Although they want to communicate with others, they don’t know how to express themselves correctly. Some learners still feel that their English ability is as poor as the middle school students. The major reason of that is their limited vocabulary, so they he no confidence to speak English. Since vocabulary plays a significant role in language speaking, to some degree, acquiring adequate vocabulary is necessary, because vocabulary size is an important criterion to measure one’s English proficiency. The larger his vocabulary size is, the better his English ability is.
The other influence affecting our spoken English is our mother tongue. In the non-English-speaking country, the learners are unable to touch English anytime and anywhere, we hen’t the language knowledge or the language habits of speaking English and not to mention the cultural background. Chinese is our first language, and we were studied it from the baby time. When learners speak English, the first step they do is translating English into Chinese in their mind, and then, speak it out. This painful process of translation is the most English learners do need to go through, including me. I know that this is a long process that we he gone through. We can not make our own sentences and expressions. What we can do is just to follow, and to use their idiomatic expressions. We don’t he the ability to create our own.
