摘要:如果把英语比作自行车,那么对于英语学习而言,前轮是词汇,后轮是语法,想学好甚至精通英语,词汇语法二者缺一不可。词汇是培养阅读技能的基础。因此,词汇教学是英语教学中不可或缺的一。但是,一些传统的教学策略脱离了语境,耗费了学生大量的时间和精力而他们仍然处于一种忘了记,记了再忘的恶性循环状态。本文以新的词汇教学理论为基础,对中学教师的词汇教学状况以及策略进行研究,弄清中学英语教师们对词汇教学的程度、注重哪些方面及教学策略,找出这些方面可能存在的理由,提出了相应的倡议。

  Vocabulary is the basic unit of language. It is the building materials of a language, it also plays an important role in the use of language. It is a common knowledge: to have a good use of a language, one must have a rich vocabulary. One of the key points of English teaching is to make students master a certain number of words, enough vocabulary is the key to successful use of a language. As Wilkins once pointed out"Without grammar, very little can be conveyed, without vocabulary, nothing can be expressed." Lexical competence is part of communicative competence, vocabulary is the sign to measure the level of a learner's foreign language level. With a new round of English teaching reform, "Higher requirements for vocabulary" and "English curriculum standard" was put forward. But many problems still exist in the English vocabulary teaching at present, teachers do not give enough attention to vocabulary teaching, and students are often just learning words by rote. Rote learning is teachers and students' main vocabulary learning method, which kills the enthusiasm of English learners and brings great difficulties in English teaching. In English classes, teachers spend a lot of time on vocabulary learning, but the effect is not ideal. Many students are excluded outside the university, without a high mark, it's impossible for students to go into their ideal university. So to help students with their vocabulary is imperative. Then, how can we help students master a large vocabulary? 
  First, problems existed in English Vocabulary teaching
  First of all, ignorance about scientific ways of vocabulary teaching. I have taught English for 7 years and have learned a lot from demonstration lessons by observing many classes and learning from many other teachers, but few of them are vocabulary learning lessons, this shows that in practical teaching, many teachers only pay attention to grammar and sentence structure teaching, giving little attention to vocabulary teaching. Teachers generally think that vocabulary is very easy to learn, while grammar is difficult to understand. Vocabulary teaching is a low level of mental activity, there is no need taking up too much time in the classroom, as long as the students know and understand what the word means, all they need to do is to let the students themselves to recite them after class, while the students' dictation is the complete vocabulary teaching.
