Outline In my teaching experience, there is one problem that some of my students don’t like learning English. I want to investigate this problem and find out some solutions to the issue.. I carried out my teaching plan, I have collected data by questionnaires and observations.
Ⅰ Problem analysis
I tried to find the answers from three aspects: the teacher, the students, the method of homework.
①The teacher
I have taught English for two years. I found I didn’t spend much time in the method of homework. I didn’t pay enough attention to it.
②The students
In Questionnaire One (Appendix A), I concluded what the students thought of English. The following were the main reasons why they didn’t like English.
③The method of homework
Schoolwork is one form of the feedback. In English teaching, schoolwork can make the teacher and student grasp the condition of teaching and learning, and then adjust the proceeding and method of teaching and learning base on the condition.
Ⅱ Based on the character of English, assigning schoolwork appropriately, not only means to let students grasp and strengthen the knowledge in textbook, also acquire the methods training in analysis, synthesis, analogy, deduction, and induction.

This topic aims to seek the method of schoolwork assignment in junior high school with new English materials.

This topic adopts the method in verbal schoolwork assignment, written schoolwork assignment, induction and deduction, behavioral research.

I plan to use some units in Junior English Book 1 as my language materials. Teaching models and new tasks have been designed with the aim of providing students with a chance to learn English easily and happily with the new method of homework..I must give different students different practices and homework.
Teaching activities design
1.English schoolwork is designed by educational that it is difficult to assign the work uniform. The classified assignment can solve the difficulty.
⑴ A Class Work:
The work fits all students, which include all verbal work and written work (ten typical problems).⑵ B Class Work:
The work fits the students who have surplus vigor, and it isn’t compulsory. The work with additional problems is proper for particular students and top students.

In an attempt to assess the effectiveness of the above- mentioned solutions, data have been gleaned mainly from two sources: two questionnaires and classroom teaching activities, which will be analyzed respectively in this section.
A Data from two questionnaires
I have used two questionnaires at different time in this project to see if my design could prove my hypothesis. There are the same four questions used in the two questionnaires to get students’ general opinion about learning English.

C. Improving the study achievement. After two months effort, we have the following results:
Ⅴ After a term trial, the two classes have remarkable difference, especially after middle term. The students of the trial class have larger knowledge and become more active.

B. The modern educationist Scartkin notes“the knowledge not by active feeling strengthen will make them indifferent, because it isn’t touching, it can be forgot quickly.” Because the problems decrease to ten numbers, it can touch the students.
C. To the poor students, we persist in thinking education, positive guide, and help ardently, and avoid the contradictive feeling.
From the comparison of the results of the two questionnaires and from interview and my observation, I have found the students’ interest in learning English is rising.

THE METHOD OF SCHOOLWORK ASSIGNMENT IN ENGLISH TEACHING PROCEEDING

Introduction
The purpose of middle school English teaching is to improve the students’ four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, on the base of necessary phonetics, large vocabulary and good grammar, but this is not the final purpose. The final purpose is to lot let students be able to use the language.
In my teaching experience, there is one problem that some of my students don’t like learning English. They think that it’s hard to learn English. The students complain that their classes are becoming more and more boring. And some students don’t like doing the homework, even can’t do their homework by themselves. Some of students complain the homework is too easy, but some of students complain the homework is too hard to do. I want to investigate this problem and find out some solutions to the issue.
This is partially because of our examination system, and partially of the teaching method. We are not able to change the examination system, but we can improve our teaching method. In this project, I have used some new teaching methods of schoolwork assignment that provided students with some new activities to try to change the situation. Before and after I carried out my teaching plan, I have collected data by questionnaires and observations.
Problem analysis
Before I began to design my new teaching plan, I would like to find out the reasons why some of students felt it difficult to communicate in English, I tried to find the answers from three aspects: the teacher, the students, the method of homework.
The teacher
I have taught English for two years. After reflecting my teaching experiences, I found I didn’t spend much time in the method of homework. I didn’t pay enough attention to it. I only let students copy the new words and phrases. Some of my students are quite good at English, some of them are average students in English, and others aren’t good at English. So some of them complain the homework is too easy to do. But if I let them do some exercises, some of them complain it is too hard to do. And they can’t finish their homework by themselves, and some even copy homework.
The students
In Questionnaire One (Appendix A), I concluded what the students thought of English. The following were the main reasons why they didn’t like English. Some weak students lack confidence. They thought their English was poor and they were afraid of making mistakes and being laughed at by others. Some thought their pronunciation and intonation were poor, which prevented them from being willing to speak English.
Some students thought the homework in the textbook gives was not useful. They couldn’t use it in their real life. And some students thought homework was to copy the words and phrases and was very simple.
The way of traditional schoolwork assignment, which transcribes words, phrases, even texts to the first importance in unify, neglects the cultivation of students in acquiring knowledge and ability, and leads students to a passive position and makes them easy to become a study “machine”. This way will make them feel study-weariness, reduce the schoolwork effort, and do harm to master knowledge internal relation and develop their intellect.
The method of homework
Schoolwork is one form of the feedback. In English teaching, schoolwork can make the teacher and student grasp the condition of teaching and learning, and then adjust the proceeding and method of teaching and learning base on the condition. In junior high school, new English materials not only put importance on training up listening and talking, but also on reading and writing.
Based on the character of English, assigning schoolwork appropriately, not only means to let students grasp and strengthen the knowledge in textbook, also acquire the methods training in analysis, synthesis, analogy, deduction, and induction. So it’s absolutely possible to accomplish light burden and high quality. Though we will meet many difficulties in teaching, we will achieve or approach the goal by paying close attention and work truly on it.

This topic aims to seek the method of schoolwork assignment in junior high school with new English materials. By doing every possible and earnest research, we should lead the students to use correct methods, make them form a good study habit, and then we can have the improvement of English teaching quality.

This topic adopts the method in verbal schoolwork assignment, written schoolwork assignment, induction and deduction, behavioral research.
From the above mentioned analysis, we can know the less time need to pay, the higher possible rewards acquired, and the utility rate is higher.
Project rationale

At present, increasing quality and decreasing burden is the in world trend. The topic that improves educational teaching quality and promotes student’s overall development is also a great challenge. So we must adapt ourselves to the need of historical development and accomplish the mission that endowed by the society. Based on the character of English, assigning schoolwork appropriately, which not only means to let student grasp and strengthen the knowledge in the textbook, also acquire the methods training in analysis, synthesization, analogy, deduction, and induction. So it’s absolutely possible to accomplish light burden and high quality. Though we will meet many difficulties in teaching, we will achieve or approach the goal by paying close attention and work truly on it.
B. Advantages of optimizing schoolwork designment

Thus, the appropriate method of homework assignment can not only make classes interesting and effective, but also attract the students’ attention to the topic being dealt with in the class.
C.The form of schoolwork
The form of schoolwork can be divided into two categories: Verbal work and written work.
Verbal work’s contents usually let students recite or read the words, phrases, texts which are learned that day. A lot of new words need a recognized proceeding from accepting to grasping, philosophical dividing this into concept, estimation, and deduction. New words are recognized in the basic phrase, it can be recognized and grasped in higher layer.
Written work’s content usually appears in exercises for students to choose correct answers or to fill in blanks. The content is grammar function which be learned that day. The typical exercises usually have ten questions. The students can acquire full perceptual knowledge and increase whole teaching efficiency by mobilizing eyes, the mouth, ears, hand to participate the perception in accepting new knowledge proceeding.
D. The role of the students
I would like the students to feel that learning English doesn’t mean just listening to the teacher. If they want to learn a language better, they must use it. Therefore, in class they should be participators. They should be very active, they should do a lot of work by themselves if they want to learn anything from the practices. They should come to realize that they can learn from each other and help each other.
So students should know that to use English in the real life is the best way to improve. Assigning schoolwork appropriately is the best way to bring the students into the real English situation.
E. The role of the teacher
Students should realize that the teacher can play many different roles at different time, not just that of an evaluator. I would like to demonstrate these different roles so that students could realize when the teacher takes a minor helping role. I would like students to get used to being responsible for their own learning rather than to depending on the teacher all the time. With the explanation of some background situation and the help of the pictures that the teacher provides, the students can work out the problems by themselves.

I would like to have lessons in different types of classroom. Besides ordinary classroom and language lab, we can have lessons in small groups, so that every student could have a chance to participate, and they could follow the teacher’s instructions and help each other. B. The role of the textbook
The textbook is well designed and has some illustrations and some exercises, but in class, most of my students don’t like to look at it or do exercises in it. So I think it’s better for me to give the students some others exercise to attract students’ attention.

Teaching activities design
1.English schoolwork is designed by educational teaching regular patterns, the teaching is controlled by various factors, and the students have different levels, so it’s difficult to assign the work uniform. The classified assignment can solve the difficulty.
⑴ A Class Work:
The work fits all students, which include all verbal work and written work (ten typical problems). It’s the basic knowledge and training that relates the teaching material. In the assignment, firstly, we cannot request an entire subject. Do one training in a class period; we must control the work quantity in macro. Secondly, we must have refined feeling.
⑵ B Class Work:
The work fits the students who have surplus vigor, and it isn’t compulsory. The work with additional problems is proper for particular students and top students. The students can choose some general subjects at a randomly. This way can encourage, exploit, and develop the students’ intelligent factors and unintelligent factors. The students’ enthusiasm can be mobilized, and the top students’ intellectual curiosity can be satisfied. The middle or poor students’ psychological pressure can be mitigated. And the poor students can accomplish the work on time. So they will strengthen their confidence.
Fox example, the classified work in Lesson 105 BOOK Ⅰ,can be designed in this way:
In order to consolidate the grasping, after explaining of the intellectual points, I assign the following work. Because at this time, the student’s brains have accepted a lot of information, the disordered information should be adjusted and consolidated. e.g. After explaining stop to do sth. ; stop doing sth. give the following work: Class begins. Let’s stop (talk). Class is over. Let’s stop (talk). Based on the previous knowledge, after thinking, the student can give the answer talking and to talk. When the new method is over, let the student do some work related to the focused teaching. It will fit the students’ desire and it’s good for I reviewing some points. The students will improve resolving power and strengthen the understanding in language internal meaning by analyzing the difference and the similarity of the grammar. It will solve one complaint—there is no one help solve the difficult problem after returning home. Even to the poor student will be full of confidence,.

This paper is the result of the action research I have conducted from March 2003 to May 2003, which is aimed at chancing students’ interest in learning English through English homework. After the above method, the phenomenon of the students default to turn in the homework changed. The students form a good habit of finishing the work independently and turn in it on time. The student’s self-respect and confidence are developed. They become the real master of study. All these were very helpful and useful in class. My students have become more active and interested in tasks even though some of the tasks were not easy to do. The result shows: the method of English schoolwork assignment is feasible and effective.
